3 Things College Students Realize as Graduation is Approaching and Entering the Job Force
College students learn a lot as an undergrad; however, what college officials don’t teach you is what expectation to expect in the real world. Now, don’t get me wrong, college does provide students with a simulation of the real world, but it doesn’t quite compare to the real thing itself. Here are 3 things college students realize as graduation is approaching and entering the job force:
#1 Your Degree and Work Experience Go Hand in Hand
College students come to a point in their undergraduate career when they realize that their degree will only get them so far. A degree provides you with the education and tools you need to pursue a career. While looking for job opportunities, a lot of them require some work experience beyond a degree requirement. That’s because work experience is essential.
Work experience teaches you valuable lessons while giving you a taste of the industry. Your education will never stop after your undergraduate career. Each job will provide you with new insights to further your personal and career development.

#2 Communication is Key
You know that time freshman year when you were required to take public speaking? Ah yes, the class a lot of people dread, having to speak in front of your peers you don’t even know. By the time graduation comes, students realize why that class was necessary, or at least hopefully have.
Communication plays an essential part in our personal and professional lives. It is always going to be a skill that needs to be developed and crafted over time. If you can not articulate effective communication, it is going to hinder you.

#3 It’s All About Who You Know
It’s all about networking my loves. If you haven’t heard it before by now, here you go. A research from LinkedIn conducted in 2016 shows that 70% of people were hired at a company where they already had a connection in place. Want to know the best way to network? You’ve guessed it, human interactions, aka communication. So go ahead and put your toes in the water!
Now, college goers, if you are at the beginning of your college experience go out and meet people and find an internship within your career path. And if you’re an upcoming graduate like me, Godspeed my loves!
